Our perspective on Plonk, the online wine club.
Last Updated: December 2024
In British and Australian slang, a “plonk” is a cheap, low-quality wine. We think founder Etty Klein must have a good sense of humor—the Plonk Wine Club excels at selecting delicious, affordably-priced wines for its members.
The Plonk wine club is all about originality. Plonk wines hail from lesser-known winemaking regions, such as Croatia, Greece, and Hungary. The winemaking process is just as distinct: every bottle is sourced from organic or biodynamic farms, made by grapes that are sourced from their native regions. For an off-the-wall, totally customizable wine club experience, give Plonk a try.

The more bottles a member orders in a shipment, the cheaper the price per bottle. A shipment of 12 bottles costs $285, or $23.75/bottle.
In addition to being Plonk’s founder, Etty Klein is also the company’s wine curator. When you uncork a Klein selection, you can rest assured you’re in good hands. Klein is certified by the esteemed Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and the American Sommelier Association.
Klein only selects wines that are organic or biodynamic, ridding your glass of any pesticides, colorants, artificial sugars, or other phony additives.
Klein tends to choose wine varietals that are a bit more off the beaten path, sourcing from lesser-known winemaking regions. If you’re game for a little adventuring, you’ll find it with Plonk.
The look of your first Plonk shipment will vary depending on the number of bottles you choose. If you chose four bottles, your box will be tall and thin, with the bottles packed vertically. If you order 12 bottles, the box will be long and wide, with bottles packed on their sides.
After opening the box, remove any packaging materials in the way of your wines. Below the packaging, you’ll find information sheets on the bottles included in your shipment. Reference these for tasting notes, information on the winemaking process, and pairing suggestions.
Finally, you’ll find your wines below. Happy sipping!
Unlike their namesake, Plonk wines are the perfect mix of deliciousness, originality, and affordability. Sommelier and Plonk founder Etty Klein hand selects every bottle, ensuring you’re getting the top choices of a true expert. Every wine is organic or biodynamic, sourced from a lesser-known region, and free of additives and harmful chemicals. Each shipment is easily customizable, making the entire membership experience tailored to your wine needs.
